Week of April 4th - April 8th

Monday, April 4th
Today in all cores except Piranhas we took a Pre-Test for Chapter 6 - Integers.  We will be starting the integers unit on Wednesday.  No home practice for any class including Lit Block.
Tuesday, April 5th
Barracudas, Sharks and Stingrays; So we begin the challenging but fun world of integers.  We watched a Brainpop video to learn the basics, then started to create a foldable with all of the integer rules. We will finish these on Wednesday.  Weather permitting we will go outside this week and "walk the line" to learn about adding and subtracting integers.  No home practice for any class.
Lit Block - we chose a different version of "The Prince and the Pauper" and began our journals and reading of the book. No home practice for Lit block.
Wednesday, April 6th
Barracudas, Sharks and Piranhas - We finished up our Integer foldables with all of the integer rules.  We then used a number line to practice adding and subtracting integers.  Add (go right) subtract (go left) negative (walk backwards) positive (walk forwards).  Tomorrow we will go outside and actuall "walk the line".  No home practice for any class.  Piranhas, we finished up our centers for this week.
Thursday, April 7th
Today we started our "project" which is an integer game that the students had to create.  We will complete these on Monday.  No home practice.
Lit Block - Re-read Chapter 11 - 13 for the quiz on Friday.
Friday, April 8th
We finally "walked the line".  We went outside and used a painted number line on the stairs of the school to practice our understanding of adding and subtracting integers.  It was challenging, so we will continue our projects on Monday for more understanding of this difficult concept. No home practice for any class.
